Who is this guy?

I've posted this on my tumblr, and now I'm here to seek help on who can assist me on finding out who this model is. He looks like the child of Jonathan Rhys Meyers and James McAvoy and I simply looove this look! One look of this guy has me head over heels for him, and it's a rare occurrence for me. I now admit I have a soft spot for guys with dark hair and blue eyes.

Strange Fates (Nyx Fortuna #1) - Marlene Perez

If you have any idea who this model is, drop me a comment to let me know! I've seen the book trailer and I don't think they're the same person, but I may be wrong. (the book trailer is really shit btw)

Writing a story!

I'm writing a fantasy story! It borrows some elements from my previous (unfinished) story, but is essentially something new. Don't know how long I woud spend writing it before I grow tired of it, but I've kept the profiles and the short prologue private in order to prevent it from being plagiarised. :P When I'm ready, I will make it public so stay tuned!

For some light reading and a good time!

The Cat's Meow (Witch's Brew, #1)The Cat's Meow by Stacey Kennedy

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I've never read any of the author's previous books, but did look at the synopsis of some. Wow, what a different direction(I think).

Anyway, this book is really cute! I am an avid fan of DotA1/2 so when I read that Libby is an Enchantress I immediately thought of her

Aiushtha is a super, super cute hero in DotA2 and I absolutely adore her so while I was reading this book I just imagined Libby as Aiushtha but with a human body and a little bit more sassy. *squeals*

I liked that the romance in this book (unlike some others that I've read) was slow and building, where I was convinced that Libby does like Kale. However, I was less convinced over Kale's love-at-first-sight/I've-never-met-anyone-like-you confession. Hence, the lack of 5-stars for this book.

Really cute cover, and I like the overall plot for this book. (view spoiler)[Didn't quite like the Mary Sue bit though - Libby happens to be an all-powerful enchantress (also that Kael happens to be a High Priest). It's weird that the Goddess has so much time to speak through every single Enchantress out there and is very much willing to impart information for a crime. (Having an enchantress as a detective is very much kick-ass and will definitely save us from all the crimes in the world) Too much idealised fantasy for a book. Oh well! (hide spoiler)]

What a disappointment...expected better

Archangel's Blade (Guild Hunter, #4)Archangel's Blade by Nalini Singh

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

The romance in this book was hard to believe. And based on the reviews, I feel like the majority of the readers are... not with me.

I don't understand how Honor can feel so closely-drawn to the vampire Dmitri, even after her 2-month worse-than-rape ordeal with vampires. Something missing? Being too hot for words is not an excuse.

Also, I don't understand how Dmitri can feel the same way about Honor. How can he think that she's the one when all he did in the past to women were bed them and throw them away? Suddenly out of the blue, BAM! Don't leave me, darling, love you forever. (Not quoted from the book, but somewhat along the lines)

Uhhh... OK.

In addition to this, there were so many italics in this book. I'm not a fan of italics, unless it's used to stress a word, but when it's used in a flashback that spans pages and pages just... count me out from giving this book a good rating.

(view spoiler)[
The best part, the flashbacks were about an undying (very realistic, indeed) love Dmitri has for his dead-wife from a 1000 years ago. Strange, yknow? Vampires after turning should be forgetting their human life, and 1000 years should strengthen that notion that even if Dmitri loved his wife so much the most he can remember of her should be the feelings he had of her, NOT crazy lengthy flashbacks that bore the heck out of me! I guess the author is trying to tell us that Dmitri is a vampire with a past but who isn't?? We get it that Dmitri loved his wife very very much, but enough with the flashbacks! Too much!

The romance between Honor and Dmitri is too exaggerated. The part when he knelt in forgiveness to her was unbelievable. Really? The oh-so-mighty and haughty Dmitri does that? And he did it so unconvincingly if I were Honor I would tell him to FFS get outta my sight right NOW. No guy should be forgiven for exerting physical violence to a woman.
(hide spoiler)]

I did not like this book at all. Even Dmitri avenging Honor after 1 or 2 times of meeting her is kind of stupid. He has his hands full as Raphael's second, I don't believe that he can just simply waste his resources so that they can hunt down her torturers. Even if Honor's his HEA (but then, they just met, how would he know? OH no wait, the author knows, we know, and that's enough, right?).

Some parts of this book were such a bore I was tapping away on my Kindle skim-reading it. Not a book you should waste your time on. Sorry.

Books I DNF

I didn't use to be like this. I used to be less judgemental and more forgiving to my books. But lately cos I've so little time to read I've become more picky with my choice of books.

Here are the books I did not finish (DNF) and why:

Taking Shots (Assassins) by Toni Aleo
- I think I gave this a short review because I was 3/4 into the book before I decided to drop it.

Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor
- This is the sequel to Daughter of Smoke & Bone which was a pretty amazing book because it was a huge mystery right from the start: Why was her hair blue? Who was Brimstone? Who is Akiva and what is his connection to Karou? Then in the end, a major twist was revealed and I felt really sad and disappointed. I was pretty fine with just a book though, so when the sequel came out I wasn't interested in reading it, especially since the reviews on Goodread wasn't that good either (I'm quite affected by reviews).

First few pages in, and I was really bored. I honestly did not care if Akiva and Karou got together. In fact, I did not want them to get together. Akiva was a major arse, and if I were her I'd say goodbye to him forever - he shall never be forgiven! That being said, not interested to know what happens to Karou or Akiva anymore.

The Shattered Dark by Sandy Williams
- After Aren and Mackenzie got together in the first book (The Shadow Reader) I was satisfied. In fact, I secretly suspect that's the entire reason why I gave the book 5-stars. In fact, the plot did not deserve that many stars. At most 3, tbh. In this book, it was mainly how the people post-war were licking their wounds, Aren back to being Aren and Mackenzie being back to Mackenzie, who is pretty useless even though she's a shadow-reader -_- In fact, I don't know why I even supported Aren and Mackenzie together. It was so obviously a romance the result of the Stockholm syndrome. Mackenzie does not know anything about Aren. Nothing! Also, this book is obviously YA - Mackenzie is so immature I just feel like I would be a better heroine than her. And when I think like that, it's usually cos the heroine is just terrible.

Touch of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #5)Touch of the Demon by Diana Rowland

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, just wow.

So much has happened in this book than it has ever happened in the last three ... It seems like this book was the climax of the last three put together and the last three books was building up to the 4th book, to tell us most of the secrets that Rowland has harboured for the last three books.

I love this book, I really do. This has to be my first, genuine 5-stars review since ages.

I admit for the first few pages I was really lost. There were just questions piling up on more questions. Why this? Why that? How?

Then when the climax came, and it was a shocker.

I will say no more but I would encourage you to read all three books in the series before reading this one.

Be prepared to get your mind blown. Seriously.

Who's a slut? You a slut!!!

This is in response to people who have been commenting and attacking Jenna over the poorly-made video she recently uploaded about sluts. Turns out, I'm the only one in that gossip site that has the guts to voice out my opinion on the whole matter - that I agree with Jenna and whatever she said is agreeable to a certain extent.

Turns out, people who have casual sex for fun are not amused. They do not like to be labelled as sluts. Then let's consult the internet shall we? What is a definition of a slut?

Slut or slattern is a term applied to an individual who is considered to have loose sexual morals or who is sexually promiscuous

Well that is a broad definition. It is definitely up to people to decide whether you should be labelled as such. Jenna has taken it into her video to label those who likes to go home with strangers to have sex for fun as sluts. I don't know who has fallen into that category, but certainly, some of the people she angered.

I mean, really, this is just a term. In my opinion, if you are sleeping around, shouldn't you deserve to be called a slut? Then what are you? Normal? Well, as a person who don't sleep around, I certainly cannot bear to be put into the same bracket as you. For one, we do not share the same sexual morals. The person I sleep with, will be someone I love and care deeply about. The person I sleep with will not be someone I just met from a bar. I am the one with morals. You are not

So if you aren't. What are you?

Let me tell you straight: you are promiscuous. you have certain idealisms that aren't the same as mine. if you sleep around a lot in that same pattern, then yes let's face it. You. Are. A. Slut.

P.S. : Jenna did not say anything about rape victims or slut-shaming = more potential rape victims. She didn't mean any of those things. She's a Youtube entertainer, not the go-to guide of what is rape and what is not or what is slut and what is not. She's not God. She doesn't define who you are. If that's what you think, that what you do doesn't make you a slut then great, good for you. But people judge, and you have to be ready for that and you can't always fend them all off.

[Review]Shadow Reader by Sandy Williams

The Shadow Reader (McKenzie Lewis, #1)The Shadow Reader by Sandy Williams

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Like Mackenzie I may have developed Stockholm syndrome for the kidnapper Aren, and thought that the love triangle in this book was a real dilemma! I couldn't choose! Kyol was amazing. He was someone that understood Mackenzie and was a noble guy who was loyal to his king and friend. Aren was reckless but hot.

They're both equally hot.

I can't decide!!!!

I've read some reviews before I decide to comment and I absolutely agree that this book is YA. I cannot imagine Mackenzie as a 26 year old. For all I know she could be a 16 year old in the body of a 26 y/o. Sometimes her actions were so childish I couldn't even bear it but the hotness of both Kyol and Aren made me ignore them.

There was the action and everything that should be in a book like this. But the romance oh my lorddd... did I mention this was one of the first books where I couldn't decide whether the heroine should be with whom?? It never made sense to me that Aren would fall so rapidly in love with the heroine since day 1 of her abduction, but if you have that edarratae in the way, it speeds things up so much quicker! Right??

I owe the 5-star rating to Stockholm syndrome, hot faeries and the amazing ferocity of the author to kill off her characters. It's not because it made sense or anything. guilty as charged

Instagram hoohaa

So I actually planned to post this yesterday, but LJ decided to die on me.

There's a new update now, after celebs and commoners alike move to delete their accounts, the Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom recently posted a new update saying that their privacy rules remain the same: Instagram will never ever ever sell your photos.

But who cares?

The people-who-has-deleted-their-accounts say:
